Biography:
Brian Braddock is Captain Britain, a superhero published by Marvel Comics. He was created by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe, debuting in 1976's Captain Britain #1.
Braddock was a shy, intellectual physics student who preferred academia to physical pursuits. After a motorcycle accident, he was given a choice by Merlyn and his daughter Roma: the Amulet of Right or the Sword of Might. Choosing the Amulet, he was transformed into Captain Britain, empowered by the Otherworld energy matrix.
His powers include superhuman strength, speed, stamina, flight, and a force field. The closer he is to the British Isles, the stronger he becomes. Originally, his powers were directly related to wearing his uniform, but later it was established that the uniform simply focused his abilities.
He has been a member of numerous superhero teams, including Excalibur, the Mighty Avengers, and the Captain Britain Corps. He is closely associated with characters such as Psylocke (his sister, Elizabeth Braddock), Meggan, and Pete Wisdom. He is a key figure in Marvel's UK-based stories and often involved in interdimensional conflicts.
